Be Strong; Play the Man

1 Kings 2:2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man; 3 And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself.

Guilty of it myself. Many men wear the title of man in the physical sense; spiritually and mentally they miss the mark, sadly. The role of the man in American society has been watered down in such a manner that women are willing to settle for a man even though she knows he isn't best for her. Why, because you'd have to take three different men to make a good one. Selfish and vain are two words that shouldn't describe a man, but in my opinion it does. It's one thing to be in touch with our emotions and sympathetic as men but to have our actions and thoughts skewed by them is another. Too many men are gossipers. If I'm lying you can stop reading right now. Our society regardless of class, ethnicity and race need stronger men of faith and character.

2 Samuel 10:12 Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the Lord do that which seemeth him good.

Women are too independent and don't need a man. Young men don't want the pressure of being a man but want the title of grown man. Young boys aren't taught how to be men. Then there is that little girl who's never had a father to guide and teach her. So she is taken advantage of by young men and boys. She then shuns and develops a scornful disdain for men. Grows to be an independent woman scared to be hurt by men and now we are stuck in perpetual sadness and loneliness. And a society with a shortage of genuine God-fearing men who will love, protect and care for the little girls, young and old women. It’s extremely sad, but true. Men should be protectors not predators. Lovers not lusters. Faithful not faithless. Selfless not selfish. And lastly God-fearing not godless.

I'm not here to condemn all men. But I'll be honest and say that there are far more males than men. I challenge men to be themselves. Don't lose your true identity. Stop imitating others. Reevaluate your role models. Be original, genuine and an individual. William Shakespeare stated." But, O, how bitter a thing it is to look into happiness through another man's eyes!" Sacrificing your happiness for the sake of others perception and opinions of yourself is poison to your character. Life is a more tolerable when you're living yours and not someone else's. Don’t exert all your energy trying to be someone you’re not. Use that energy to make who you are better. Get God in your life. Keep God in your life. Lastly, and more importantly, trust God and let Him guide your path.
