Micah 6:8 he has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord
require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk
humbly with your God?
This particular blog is dedicated to my late uncle Gerard Franklin; hence the title. I chose Micah 6:8 because it describes him perfectly. He was a man whom we should all model ourselves after. We all spend plenty of time trying to find ourselves. When we should take that time and live the life God has set out for us to live. The more we try to figure out what we want out of life opposed to what God has set in place for us, can take a lifetime to figure out. We were put on this earth to do God’s will. Not ours. Not what we think others will find as acceptable, but what our Lord and savior has for us. Matthew 5:48 you therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. I never realized growing up the kind of person my uncle was until he passed from this world to be with God. No one I have met in my soon to be 26 years of living has lived this verse as my uncle did. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do to help others. He was a quiet a man. Very few words unless you knew him. Went about his day living as God wanted. How hard it is in today’s society, to not lust after women, not get caught up chasing money or influenced by our peers or the media to live a life not set for us? If you knew him, the only money that he wouldn’t pass up was a penny, nickel, dime or quarter lying on the street. Well Gerard did it on a daily basis, and there isn’t one person that I have met that has done such. He was as close to perfect that I would see on this earth. I sit, day in and day out trying to figure out life. Reading books and articles. Blogs and what’s trending on social networks. When all the while I had the perfect role model on how to live this crazy life under the same roof for 19 years of my life. I always thought he was crazy for not worrying about women or all that this world could offer. When in reality I was the crazy one. Worrying about everything going on around me and things that were out of reach and farfetched. He never had a care in the world, happy all the time and content. Why? Because he lived life the way God wanted him to. Only time he complained was when the Saints lost. Doesn’t everyone in New Orleans. WHO DAT! I sit here wishing I had his faith and strength to endure this crazy world. 2 Timothy 3:17 that the man of God may be equipped for every work A heart and conscience of God; prayer and endurance to resist every temptation, which he faced. How I wish sometimes I had just one of those qualities figured out. He was an overall good person. The person I will try and model myself after. In no way am I making him a saint. I just want to share the impact he left on me in his death. One of the tools of God every man should posses is the power to let God show through you and influence others to follow your lead and be like Christ. That’s the tool he possessed I doubt he even knows he had it. A true role model, man of faith and God.
