Response to Sen. Reid comments
Sen. Harry Reid stated that Hurricane Katrina paled in comparison to Hurricane Sandy. As an N.O native & survivor I beg to differ. Not to downplay Hurricane Sandy and those affected at all. First I would like to state that northern residents didn't have to suffering the embarrassment being viewed as a "third world country and citizens labeled refugees in the same country they inhabit and pay taxes. But me and my family and countless others sat in a flooded city 5 days after "Katrina." Oil, infection and dead bodies infested the waters. Also martial law and near 100 degree heat and humidity on days to follow. One deceased family member and neighbors I can't count. Placing my elderly family members and other elderly in the 'hood inside a small fishing boat to insure their safety as me and two others walked 3 miles. In waist to eyelid high water depending on the area of the lopsided and unleveled streets of New Orleans. My own mother had to be quarantined due to an infection. The mental anguish not just from "Katrina" and the city and state government dragging their feet. Also federal government hesitant, and a president who flew over to view us suffering. I digress...just had to vent.
